Sculpture Monumentale 2021

For many years, the Sculpture Monumentale exhibition has been held in September in Square Armand Steurs, a small and very beautiful park in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode (Brussels/Belgium). In 2021, the 29th of this exhibition took place. The exhibition is organised by the association „Les Amis du Square Armand Steurs“. Michel Delabaye, who is curating the exhibition, deserves much of the credit for its success. General Blumenthal

I took these photos in September 2020 on an industrial wasteland in the middle of the Ruhr region, in Herne (Germany). The wasteland is south of the main railway station in Herne-Wanne-Eickel. Originally, the „General Blumenthal“ mine was located there. It was shut down several years ago. Since then, the area has become overgrown. The city council of Herne and the city administration want to build a technology centre on part of the wasteland. Some citizens do not want this. […]
